Sounds like flashbangs and gas going off on H St. NW. One contingent started matching another hanging at 14th started running back. #dcprotest
Looks like more gas at 14th now. Big risk for protesters is running, tripping. Saw someone fall and get picked up real quick. #dcprotests
Police trying to hold two lines on H St. and 15th St. NW. Northbound approach on H St. remains clear with scattered police presence. #DCProtests
Protestor being detained on NY and 15. Cops won't say why. We got number of friends and family. Calling ACLU and Lawyers Guild.

Lol First Amendment.
Police consolidated their line on H and 15th.
Texting with the detained protestor's contacts. Much Constitution. Wow. So Amendment. Very First.
Police are much further back behind fences outside White House. This is less confrontational than last night's protests at the moment, but the 11 pm curfew could be another flash point. #DCProtests
The security barriers they use are pretty easy to take apart, which protestors have done again tonight. That's just a zip tie at the top. You could cut it with household scissors. #DCProtests
This is from earlier. I *think* the orange thing fires tear gas or flash bangs. The cop holding it told us to move back as they got ready to move their lines. #DCprotest
Dude walked up to the line with a saxaphone and started playing Lean on Me. #DCProtests

Grief, anger, joy and solidarity.
One consequence of the cops moving back is a group of protestors taking over this small building in the park. Nice view! #DCProtests
One day, the state of Douglass Commonwealth. #DCProtests
Crowd taking a knee, chanting "kneel with us" at police. Combo of MPD and Park Police. #DCProtests
Crowd seems bigger than yesterday. Occupying more space in the park but less crowding on 16th. #DCProtests
Lawyers Guild is following up on detained protestor. Their hotline number is 202-880-1731.

Steak-Umm bless.

#DCProtests
Another big march contingent coming up 15th. Police line isn't here any more so clearly it was worth gassing people and detaining someone for no good reason.

80 minutes to curfew.

#DCProtests
Some fireworks going off. Crowd is showing more discipline when reacting to loud noises. More of us are shouting "walk" when folks start running. #DCProtests
Large tear gas rounds. Much more disciplined fall back than last night.

Treated a group of protestors with eye irritation.

#DCProtests
Protestors have started a barricaded bonfire. Did not pack s'mores. #DCProtest
The fire is getting bigger. 2nd fire started in another location. #DCProtests
Police line has advanced.

Multiple tear gas rounds. Medics and protestors flushing eyes, distributing water and milk.

Protestors have learned how to douse gas canister and toss them back at police line.
Protestors reapproaching police line through gas. Taking knees, chanting "hands up, don't shoot." Incredible discipline. #DCProtests
Standoff at Conn. and H. St. Protestors and police kicking gas and fireworks back and forth. Police are firing pepper or rubber bullets, (sounds like a paintball gun). Protestors using umbrellas to deflect gas. #DCProtests
Police charged the line and started firing pepper bullets. Multiple cruisers active on K St.

Protestors have retaken the intersection with hands up.
Another part of the crowd is falling back from a fire on I St.
I'm heading home. More protestors are falling back from positions on 16th St.

I'm assuming curfew related arrests will start tonight.

This was definitely an escalation of police tactics and an escalated tactical response from protestors too.
