I'm so sad to see many of my white/NBPoC friends and intellectual role models remain utterly silent in the face of state-sanctioned violence. We can simultaneously celebrate the joy of yesterday's SpaceX launch while mourning the injustice of antiblack brutality.
You are all smart and deliberate people, so I am completely confident you can figure out how to thoughtfully engage and mobilize your (often significant) platforms. Now isn't the time to maintain topical purity or stay in your lane. The world is bleeding and we need your support.
This is obviously not to say that you should stop working on what you love and do best — see responses to my earlier tweets for good rejoinders to this — but at the very least you can acknowledge the violence and amplify the voices of those doing hard work against brutality.
Thinking about structural and proximate causes of the carceral state? Now is the time to share.

Have you been reading anything besides Schopenhauer lately? Screenshot (and alt text) a critical, provocative, or relevant passage. (You're great at doing this for other literature!)
If you don't have anything original to contribute, research organizational efficacy, make a donation, and share your findings.

Retweet someone you respect. If you're worried about RTs being "off-brand" for you, consider the relative importance of your brand vs. the moment
But personal brands *are* important, so let's play ball. I think @graydon_pub and @JesseTheTov do a really good job of braiding thoughtful, incisive [socio]technical opinions with meaningful indicators of allyship. Likewise for @ianhorswill (though he's not really on Twitter).
Other recs: I admire @paulbiggar @samth @hillelogram @andywingo @Awfidius first and foremost as researchers/intellectuals, but they have also made me feel more comfortable in their (online or offline) presence, as a variously underrepresented but non-Black researcher.
I welcome similar recommendations from marginalized individuals, especially Black folks.
