I was 6 months old when the #1985Outbreak occurred. So all of this was told to me by my dad. We were living in Lock Haven, PA (near the end of the very long blue track in central PA). Contours are the sigtor parameters at 00Z (w/ the 3-hr tracks)
My dad spent 1st part of his childhood in TX and was used to tornadoes. The day of the #1985Outbreak he could tell that something was different and wrong. "You could cut the air with scissors." Graphics: Sfc Moisture Conv and MUCAPE at 00Z
When my dad heard started hearing the radio reports about what was happening in western PA, he rushed to take my teenage brother out of karate class. My brother was not happy about that and threw a fit. But my dad succeeded in getting him home. #1985Outbreak

The next day my dad took my brother to see the track of the Moshannon tornado through the forest. My bro never again complained about what my dad did that day. The Moshannon tornado was an EF4, lasted 69 miles, and had a width of 1-1.5 miles wide. Thankfully only 1 person injured. Here& #39;s a great graphic on this tornado from @NWSStateCollege 5 yrs ago. #1985Outbreak
