Thread Reflecting on arguments in court just over a week ago where we were seeking interim relief for limited opening of a #mosque for the obligatory Jummah prayer w social distancing & health safeguards. The defence from Sec of State incl: lockdown lifting focused on open spaces https://twitter.com/kirsty_brimelow/status/1263594258109349893
As that made sense scientifically: except of course it isn’t correct.
Plus we pointed out that prohibitions on activity had only been in public spaces not private. (So we saw weeks of lone people outside reading/sitting being moved)
We also criticised govt’s prioritising non-obligatory activities (eg golf) over obligatory (human right) prayer. So now, tomorrow, we will see amends to the Regs which restrict “gatherings” in private places - which is defined as “2 or more” people. How is 2 people a gathering?
Restriction on participation in a gathering outside of more than 6 persons.
Places to be opened include car showrooms.
Car showrooms - buying cars with all those savings? Encouragement to drive around if you have Covid?
& it remains the govt making the law; not the legislature.
