I’ve been quiet over the last three days because the world doesn’t need another hot take on twitter on US politics from across the sea. But then #ANITFA 1/15
I will always stand with Anti-Fascists. I may not agree with actions of some far left groups/anarchists but a bad #ANITFA is always better than a good Nazi. 2/15
As for the protests, I don’t understand why more people are not out on the streets or organising in different ways. It is not acceptable to see a man choked to death by the police and just stand by idle. If you are not going to join the fight for justice now when will you. #BLM
I hope that those Americans who stand on the right side of history will be planning and organising both for tomorrow, for November and beyond.

The system needs to be broken and then remodelled into something fairer 4/15
Black Lives matter, they always have and they always will. I just hope to see the day when American society recognises that truth. #BLM #BlackLivesMatters 5/15
Then there are the hot takes from Ireland, my home, and the UK the land of my birth, saying thank God there racism isn’t here. 6/15
For them, I can think of no better words than those from the Sermon on the Mount “ “Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye?” 7/15
In Ireland, the Gardas may not be beating people in the streets, but I’m sure every POC has been asked the classic question at some point "No where do you really come from?" Implying you are not really from here, you don't really belong. 8/15
In Ireland, the Garda’s may not be beating people in the streets, but I’m sure every person of colour has been asked the classic, No where do you really come from? 9/15
Then think about how we treat our minority communities.
In 2018.

Only half of the measley €12m allocated to Traveller Accomodation was spent by local councils. Why was this? 10/15
Where are the voices of POC in Irish politics? For those brave enough to raise their heads above the parapet such as @HazelChu and @elliekisyombe1 , Look at how they are treated and the abuse they suffer. 11/15
Where are the voices of POC and immigrants in the rest of public life? Where are the stories of POC and immigrants in the media and on TV? 12/15
This is even before we get to the disgrace that is Direct Provision, where we keep vulnerable people fleeing persecution in prison like conditions.
#EndDirectProvision 13/15
We must support our brothers and sisters in the USA, which is why I will donate to bail funds and and other community orgs in Minnesota and march next weekend in Cork, if there is a #BLM march here similar to the one in Dublin by @merj_ireland @masi_asylum
@BlackPrideIre 14/15
But it also why we have to work for fairness and equality at home by tackling the actual and systemic racism wherever we find it. Because in the words of the great Fannie Lou Hamer - "Nobody's free until everybody's free" 15/15
