Can’t wait to take another Twitter break but while we’re in the thick of this once again and some are out there marching, risking their lives, the very least anyone can do is offer vocal support for black lives and against police brutality.
I’m side eyeing some folks who are ardently pro-life but can’t for the life of them manage to say anything of substance.
Being black means being constantly disappointed by people who call you a friend but won’t risk offending their racist family/friends when the lives of those who look like you are on the line.
I don’t actually like being online. This account was started anonymously for a reason. One of my book contracts had a clause stating I couldn’t disappear online like I like to do because promo is important. I find the Internet and communicating in general, draining.
Communicating, even when it’s a little fun, gives me massive anxiety and I avoid it both online and in life, but some things are bigger than us. I hope you can get past whatever in your life is causing you to keep silent about the things that cause others pain.
Not all of us have the luxury of being quiet about black lives because we have black bodies and children.
I have to do some school but take care of yourselves and your other humans.
