I would like to share an account from someone i know well at the protest yesterday in Los Angeles that was sent to me over text:
To your tweet , Yes the protests were incredible, peaceful and powerful at the beginning of the day
Adam (my boyfriend) had to talk down a white kid from breaking a window with a skateboard - explaining to him why that was wrong
We sat with a girl who was beaten by the cops for picking up someone’s cell phone off the ground while they were trying to move her back- a cop stepped on her hand and beat her
And then took the phone and taunted her saying “come and get it”
And she was actively not yelling at them .
Yes all of the people tagging / lighting stuff on fire at first were not black. Black lives matters folks were begging people to stop.

It was a beautiful powerful day until it wasn’t - I will never look at this the same
They didn’t tell us the curfew until 7 PM - people who were trying to go home got arrested. We left once the tear gas started
I have so many stories from yesterday. It changed my life michaela truly. People are in so much pain.
This is from a young woman in her 20s. She will never be the same and that’s a good thing but this is a warning to the withering patriarchy. Your days are done. And it’s all your own doing.
