What should SBOs and BBOs do to make sure their customers find them early and often?

That might sound obvious, but how deeply do you understand exactly where your clients are willing to get stuffs and what influences their decisions? This is where market research comes into play
When conducting market research, there are few paramount things that must be highly cindered, these are; your audience, what's trending in your industry, what your target audience and customers want and need out of products and services like yours,
and what's influencing their decisions to convert and buy.

You need to know that as you are conducting your survey, your potential customers are conducting their own buyer research about products and services similar to those you sell too,
Your market research could be based on; Exploratory Research, Specific Research, Public Sources, Commercial Sources or Internal Sources, it could also be base on two, three or all of them at the same time, but above all, make sure your objectives are met please!
Follow the few steps below religiously in order to achieve the sole aim of your market research:

• Define your buyer persona.

• Identify a portion of that persona to engage.

• Engage your market research participants.

•Prepare your research questions.
• List your primary competitors.
Summarize your findings.
