There *is* a Foreign Terrorism Org designation statute. It's the basis of many stings & prosecutions targeting Muslims, for example, charged with "material support." This designation that allows the govt to go after you just on so-called "material support" of an org on that list.

"Material support" can basically be anything: $, advice, a ride to the airport, or even "a glass of water" to quote the government. $1 on Paypal? That's "material support." By this logic, if a DTO designation statute is created, bond funds could be called "material support."

Especially because there is no actual cognizable "antifa" organization, it would open it up to it up to attacking literally any organization that opposes fascism, including freezing funds. This has happened with orgs that support Palestinian liberation, for example.

In the Holy Land Foundation cases, none of the Palestinian organizations that received HLF's aid were even designated entities. But the government claimed they were operating "for the benefit" for Hamas, which they had designated.

All this to say, this is very dangerous for ALL organizers. Now is not the time to throw anti-fascist organizations under the bus. We need to protect each other & oppose this & all paths to criminalization of our communities, bc that is always this government will do selectively.
