We need to be clear on a few things, the rioters are not the protesters, and saying fuck the police is not a solution, if we want to fix the issue with lack of police accountability we need to a do a few things, here are my ideas and suggestions to prevent this from occuring. 1/
First we need to have body cams, in Rialto CA, after implementing body cams complaints filed against the police fell by 88% and the use of force by officers fell by 60% when being watched officers behavior is better and their is more trust from the community period. 2/
Second we need to have a government organization to independently investigate shooting involving police officers, having their peers be the investigator will lead to bias and wanting to put the officer in question in the best light so actions seemed justified 3/
Having the attorney& #39;s office charge and prosecute the offciers is another issue, they work hand in hand with the officers and relationship is built on trust, if they do not have trust with each other then they can& #39;t work properly to charge those who commit actual crimes 4/
Another issue is that police officers have a bad culture and call others who do call out bad behavior snitches and are treated differently, in Baltimore a detective who reported two officers for misconduct for excessive force he was then labled a rat by his peers 5/
A segerent then left pictures of cheese on his desk to mock him, and meanwhile other cops cut him off and in some dangerous situations he didn& #39;t receive back up, another offcier left a dead rat on his windshield 6/
If we have a system where those cops who do report misbahvior of others then are bullied, harrased and left to die we have a flawed system, we need to protect those who report and punish those who attack the reporters. 7/
Another issue is that complaints and records off officers misbahvior can be private and even removed after a few months, this should all be public and known, and if we have repeat defenders like Derek Chauvin they need to be terminated quicker.8/
Another issue is that we have cops who resign after incidents and move to other police departments to avoid records called "Gypsy Cops" in SC a single officer in nine years of service worked and nine different stations and worked at three in a single year this needs change. 9/
They found a empty bottle of rye whiskey in his car, along with a baggie of assorted pills and resigned by saying "I& #39;m not taking no drug test, I guess I& #39;ll resign". We need systems in place that are early detection of bad officers to punish poor behavior. 10/
Take this the officer who killed then 12 year old Tamir Rice, was in the process of being fired, he never should of been hired, on his record he has an issue at weapons training where he had a dangerous loss of composure 11/
The supervisor of the officer came to this conclusion, "I do not believe time nor training, will be able to change or correct these deficiencies" yet he was hired anyways, we need a better system to train and we cannot let those who receive such bad reviews as this be hired. 12/
We need to have a discussion at this time, it& #39;s not time to point fingers and argue, 99% of people hate racist people, let& #39;s not divide on the issue and argue saying pointless things like abolish the police and fuck the police, let& #39;s talk about the issues and address them 13/
If we don& #39;t fix the real issues, if we don& #39;t punish officers, if we riot and take away from our cause then nothing will happen and their will be more of the same. We need to solve these issues to stop us from knowing Walter Scott& #39;s name, or Geroge Floyd or Tamir Rice. 14/
They should all be alive and not be known by the public, they should be home with their family, not buried with them. Violence breeds violence and knowing that I understand why their rioting, but we can& #39;t just riot we need to make change happen, period.
