Why it will take Futbol Club Barcelona at least 4-5 years to go back to the glory days.

Much has been said about how Barcelona are in turmoil and how the Horrible planning, the political shenanigans, the player power, the lack of a winning project and little to no trust in Youth have all been major contributions.

The worst part is that, from the looks of it, this might go on for another year until the elections. But I don't think the club can be fixed withing a year or two. Whether the next president is Font, LaPorta or someone from the current board(i really hope not) it will take time.

The financial situation will have to be sorted out. Judging from current events I'd say Barca are in deep financial trouble. Add to that the current world situation which has already limited resources and income. So It will take a while to stabalise the financial situation.

The average age of Barcelona's starting line-up against Napoli in San Paolo in the Round of 16 of the Champions League was 28.3 years, the highest of the 16 line-ups in the first leg of this round. That is extremely alarming and another issue that will take time to fix.

It will take time to get rid of the older players and make room for younger, more passionate and more hungry players. Trust in Youth and La Masia is key to this. There's also a lot of deadwood to get rid off.

The reason I perhaps most dread, is Messi. Messi won't be here longer than 2-3 years. And some would argue that we are already seeing his decline. He's obviously still the greatest player ever and the best at the moment but he IS declining.

He has lost pace, he has lost the flair he once had. Of course Messi can still dribble past half the team but not in the way he used to. He can't take on the whole team like he used to. He doesn't have the same workrate he once had.

He's still out Talisman and we rely on him too much. So once he retires, there would be huge cracks and voids to fill. Recovering from the habit of relying on Messi and his magic would be very hard. He's the playmaker, the goalscorer, the offensive midfielder

and everything goes through him during attacks. He's also the link between The midfield and The forward line at times. To fill messi's shoes Barca will need an attacking midfielder, a lethal winger with pace and Dribbling, a consistent goalscorer and so much more.

Psychologically the team is also in shambles. Recovering from that will require time, patience and determination from every department of the club.

Taking Barcelona back to its values and identity is also a major factor. While the new coach,Quique Setien is trying to repair the damage and re-implement the Cruyffian Philosophy that the club and himself have in common, perfecting it is nearly impossible if we think rationally.

Perfecting it is something that also requires time and experimentation.

But I'm very optimistic. The whole world knows how a certain someone and his board have destroyed the club and are continuing to do so and it looks like everyone has lost faith in them. It's very likely that the next president will be Victor Font. And that's perfect.

He genuinely seems like someone who cares deeply about the club, its values,its philosophy and knows how to implement a winning project. So if we give him time, good things and good times will bless Futbol Club Barcelona again. Thanks for reading.
