The protest against police violence and #GeorgeFloyd ‘s death started up about an hour before its scheduled start time of 2 pm at the red wagon in Riverfront Park
The crowd is growing with chants of “These racists cops have got to go” and “say his name: #GeorgeFloyd
Cinniah Gray, 14, begged her mother to come protest today.
“I’m scared- I’m scared for my brothers, my dad, my cousins,” the middle schooler said.
At the protest’s scheduled start time the area near the red wagon in Riverfront Park is nearly full #GeorgeFloydprotests
Nonie and Dave Kingma said despite COVID it was important for them to attend the #GeorgeFloydprotest today. Activism is something the couple has practiced their whole lives, even attending the March for our Lives in DC.
Katie Naipo (holding the sign) has mixed race children and said she and her husband have already explained to their children the hardships they will face as people of color.

Protest has quieted a bit to sporadic chanting with most standing quietly or holding signs
Protesters are slowly clearing out from the back while those left move forward
A makeshift set up on the side of the courthouse has water, snacks, trash bags and milk- Incase of tear gas.
Shelby Ingram said she came to the protest alone and when people needed help manning the table she “went where she was needed”
The protest has moved downtown in front of the Nike store
Police light off chemical canisters at protesters after the Nike store was broken in to
People are pouring milk on their faces, spraying each other with spray bottles. Everyone is coughing.
Police are at the end of the block in a line most protesters have cleared the area. At least one person was arrested.
Police are now launching a third round of canisters into Riverfront Park where protestors retreated
An even larger police presence at Stevens and Main where police also used tear gas, traffic still flowing

Cars still rolling through the intersection of Washington and Main, right in the middle of a standoff between police and protestors. Only a couple dozen protestors left
“This is an unlawful gathering” police announced over the loud speaker- threatening arrests if protesters didn’t disperse

These are kids- one girl, who just got hit by a rubber bullet and tear gas, just told me she’s 13.
