This is what it’s like in Mpls right now: step out the door, an unplated truck roars by, but I found it parked: found it in a parking lot and took pics, the vin number here. They’re criminals.

There was a black hawk helicopter overhead. Within two blocks I saw another unplated SUV, two motorcycles roared by, yes, unplated. We are under attack. I sat up much of the night with the rest of the block, guarding against arsonists.

Last night two people sat in a rental truck in front of my house trying on ski goggles over their face masks and giving phone instructions to someone on where to find their documents if “the shit hits the fan”.

In between I made food for children, helped with distance learning end of year work, and tried to explain this to children. Curfew starts again in 5 hours. Fuck white supremacy.

Ok. I called the BCA, they said call 911. Called 911, got through fast, they took info but said couldn’t use it right now. (I’m sure they’re off the charts busy.) Saw TWO MORE unplated vehicles, a gold SUV and another pickup truck roaring around. Within a 10 block walk.

But here’s what else we saw besides unplated terrorism. An African-American woman driving a van with a vanity plate of Elie Wiesel’s Holocaust tattoo number. A long line to donate to @Pimentokitchen . That’s my Minneapolis.

How did I know Elie Wiesel’s tattoo? I don’t. But Night is my 14 year old’s favorite book. The point of the walk was to touch base, and relax? Children are living through this too. We didn’t relax. But we connected in our shared values and we’re stronger for it.
