Hello, I have just went through my bookcase and blog archive. I have not covered a book by a black author in full on my blog, and my bookcase is lacking in works by minority authors. Shame on me. Books are truly how I learn about the situations others face. (1/?)
I was born into a white, middle-class family; I will never fully understand the fears and issues many in America and other countries face, but I want to learn and stand with those who have been marginalized for hundreds of years. (2/?)
My blog has given me a teeny, tiny platform to speak up against the injustices in the world as they are presented in literature. To fully be able to do this though, I need to become educated on the matters at hand. (3/?)
I am actively researching and educating myself on the movement. But if you would be so kind, please leave book recommendations from black and POC authors regarding #BlackLivesMatter along with titles from minority authors just to expand my bookcase. (4/?)
Also, if you ever read a post from me on the Twitter page or on the blog itself, please call me out on it. I come from a very small, conservative town. I've only recently been exposed to the world around me, and I want to help change America for the better. (5/?)
If there is anything that I say that comes across as problematic and wrong, please, please, please, call me out on it. Like I said, I'm educating myself on the matter, but any resources you wish to share are welcome.
Thank you.
~Hannah
