This picture was taken 25 years ago, but I didn’t see it until recently. I was going to post it on here as a happy “look at me & my friends, we were so young” kinda thing, but right now it means more than that to me... (thread)
Over the years, these guys have been my best friends, bandmates, housemates, coworkers, & ALWAYS my brothers from other mothers (even when we didn’t quite get along). I’ve traveled back & forth across the country with them several times...
I think back now to the times when we encountered sketchy situations, especially down south. Of course I was aware that a white woman traveling with a black man & a Vietnamese American man would be seen as strange by some, but I was young & didn’t think about it too much...
Now I think that my friends were probably thinking about it more than I was (especially Joel-yeah he’s the African American one) & I feel like an asshole about that. The truth is, we were damn lucky to survive all those trips (mostly) unscathed...
Anyway, the point is... As a white woman who would never ever consider herself to be racist, I still have a lot to learn-as do we all. Bob & Joel, I’m sorry if I was ever insensitive to either of your plights. You guys rock (sometimes 😉)...
Here we are now. We’re still around & so is the institutionalized racism in this lovely dumpster fire of a country. *SIGH* I love you guys...

P.S. We added a white guy a few years ago for some diversity ☺️ https://dryerrockmusic.com/bio/
