Yes I am planning to cover the protests/marches in Boone today. I will be a little slower as I am still recovering from last night but have every intention of covering what happens.
App State football head coach Shawn Clark is out here supporting the Boone march.
Marchers are starting to gather and form at the library circle
Two App State police officers here have been handing out water. The crowd has grown considerably
And the March has started
Protest is now moving down King Strewt to the court house
Continues on with protestors staying on the sidewalk. Cars are honking in support
Police are blocking off the roads to the court house as protestors make their way there
The scene:
The road by the court house is blocked
They’ve mostly left the road clear now but the police are still blocking it off
The marchers are not chanting names of black men and women who have been killed by police.
Some are starting to write with chalk on the road
The group is now taking 8 minutes of reflection
Only real police presence I see right now are two App PD officers. One is directing traffic as cars/AppalCART comes through and the other is handing out water bottles
