Wanted to compile some of the police atrocities from the last couple nights. This is the brutality that deBlasio is proud of. This is the violence that Shea is proud of. These two must be removed and we must #DefundTheNYPD so they can never inflict this kind of pain on NYC again.
By now everyone's seen these cops plowing their SUVs through scores of protestors, inches from killing many of them. https://twitter.com/StefSimanowitz/status/1266896495485345792
And here they are moments before barreling through crowds nearly hitting many. https://twitter.com/zzelladonatella/status/1266883979342417926
The night before some psychopath cop swung his door open while speeding down Classon to hit someone with it. https://twitter.com/NickAtNews/status/1266537738364477446
Here is a sequence of videos showing some malicious cop chasing then shoving a young woman to the ground, causing a seizure requiring hospitalization. https://twitter.com/zayer_dounya/status/1266581597760831489
This one from Friday shows a legion of cops who decided they were tired of patiently watching a peaceful assembly so they decided to instigate violence in the crowd. https://twitter.com/j0ncampbell/status/1266514356071735296
This thread shows how a peaceful protest devolved into chaos the moment cops chose to plow through and start attacking protestors. https://twitter.com/BrooklynSpoke/status/1266832574070034432
Here we see some hotheaded lieutenant shove a protestor unprovoked. https://twitter.com/sethmpk/status/1266717404509372418
Even by NYPD standards this one was a particularly sickening display of sadism. A cop rips down the mask of a protestor with his hands in the air to pepper spray his face at point blank range. https://twitter.com/Sifill_LDF/status/1266928343141752833
Speaking of pepper spray, this is NYS Assemblywoman
Dianna Richardson at the receiving end, along with her Senate colleague, @zellnor4ny. I wonder if assaulting elected officials is what BdB means when he says he's proud of police? https://twitter.com/GwynneFitz/status/1266522692326428672 https://twitter.com/zellnor4ny/status/1266802303807500288
Then some old fashioned police brutality, beating a crowd of protestors. https://twitter.com/ShimonPro/status/1266136557871869952
And let's not forget that underlying all of this is the deeply engrained white supremacy that permeates throughout all US institutions, but most acutely in the police. He's a cop flashing a "white power" sign. https://twitter.com/chadloder/status/1266994073501487104
So how about some accountability? Oh right, cops are covering their names and badge numbers to shield their identity. https://twitter.com/TheIndypendent/status/1266871388624781312
I'm sure there are countless more videos that have not yet crossed my radar. By all means, extend this thread with any more you might find. Police brutality is obviously a national problem, but I am keeping the focus here on NYC so we can work to #DefundTheNYP and more.
