I think this is a really good time for white people trying to be allies to carefully source every image you& #39;re spreading, every anecdote you& #39;re calling inspirational, every "THIS," everything.
There& #39;s an understandable urge not to be silent; I share it. But listen first to what the Black people you trust and follow are saying, feeling, sharing. If you don& #39;t follow enough to do that, then you are better off rectifying that and listening first.
If something sounds inspirational to you, or insightful about race, but it& #39;s being circulated in your feed almost entirely by white people, that& #39;s a sign that you might need to take another second, consider it more.
Learning not to go entirely with your gut when it comes to what& #39;s wise is part of learning your instincts are imperfect no matter what your conscious intentions, because of the systemic racism we& #39;re all poached in. Mine absolutely are.
