I think this is a really good time for white people trying to be allies to carefully source every image you're spreading, every anecdote you're calling inspirational, every "THIS," everything.
There's an understandable urge not to be silent; I share it. But listen first to what the Black people you trust and follow are saying, feeling, sharing. If you don't follow enough to do that, then you are better off rectifying that and listening first.
If something sounds inspirational to you, or insightful about race, but it's being circulated in your feed almost entirely by white people, that's a sign that you might need to take another second, consider it more.
Learning not to go entirely with your gut when it comes to what's wise is part of learning your instincts are imperfect no matter what your conscious intentions, because of the systemic racism we're all poached in. Mine absolutely are.
