What’s up, fellow white people! I want to lovingly remind you, especially those of you who are new to protesting and activism, that this isn’t a game. It isn’t going into the streets and having feelings everywhere.
Please listen to Black people who are organizing. Do what they ask you. Our job is to support and protect them. If they ask you to stand down? Stand down. If they ask you to disengage? Disengage. Even if you have feelings about it. This isn’t about your feelings.
If you mouth off to a cop, and escalate—that may be inconvenient for you, but that’s deadly for a black person. Don’t do that. Listen to the organizers. Stick with the lead of black organizations.
If we’re about dismantling white privilege, it starts here. Protests aren’t about you and your feelings.
