You do not respect the black community. If you did, you would not have questioned the nature of my professional relationships with my black colleagues on several occasions. The 3 other black people there were my only support system when dealing with your ignorance.

This is the same organization that has people in senior positions who in 2018 suggested we swap Childish Gambino’s gun for a bouquet of flowers that say This Is Canada. They held firm in their stance that they didn’t see why it was a bad idea.

This is the same organization that made a white VP feel comfortable responding to me complimenting her hair with “Yeah, but it’s not a weave...”

Explain what you’re doing to dismantle the systems/powers within your own org that hurt black people. Until then you’re no different than the other Canadian media companies who should have nothing to offer at this time except a detailed action plan and apology to black people.

Here’s me believing in something even if it means sacrificing everything. I believe that @GlobalTV, Corus Entertainment and the rest of Canadian media need to do better. The tweet they threatened to fire me for and the Colin Kaepernick ad they wanted me to make fun of.

I never received an apology. I had to apologize to a white man for my tweet about him pushing me to make fun of a message that means so much to the same black community they’re pretending to care about now.
