Here is what really happened in Chicago yesterday:
CPD raised a total of 4 bridges to lock protestors into downtown last night. They shut down all public transportation locking resistors into a zone. They shut down streets and eways to stop foot and car traffic in and out of DT.
They did this not only to lock folks in but also to stop supplies and resources from getting to them. Organizers with 400 tear gas goggles couldn't get through. Medics, lawyers, and folks donating snacks and water to resistors all couldn't get through because of CPD's blockades
They started congregating five hours before the action even started. They prepared their guns, riot gear, and tear gas in advance. They then began to provoke protestors by separating crowds and groups as early as 2pm.
Then @chicagosmayor, Lori Lightfoot issued an emergency curfew at 8:30 for 9' o'clock. 30 mins for thousands of people to disperse. After, police held protestors in one spot until 8:57pm intentionally.
CPD had undercover cops on scene. On Washington and Randolph, one undercover cop was found and as resistors confronted him he pulled a gun and tried to load the clip. This is the workings of a police department that we pay a minimum of 4 million dollars a day to protect civilians
So as @chicagosmayor & @GovPritzker calls the national guard and Illinois state police to back up CPD's efforts today ask yourself, who will they serve? Who will they protect?
To my people rebelling in my hometown of Chicago and the world... Thank you. I love you. We will win.... Last night was one of the most beautiful and traumatic days of my life.
