Just been out. Streets packed, nobody distancing. Lockdown effectively over.

The Government had a chance. The Blitz spirit was there. For the first time in years, the important stuff - public service, honouring workers, belief in the collective - was at the front of our minds

And in a week, they fucked it up. Because in the end they think rules are for others; that solidarity is naive; that the last two months have meant nothing.

Their cowardice has never been clearer. And it is killing people #NotMovingOn

Mortality rates show that when the virus hits a country which meets it with coordinated, communal effort, it stalls. When the official response is “Give me liberty or give me death”, death wins.

It feels like we’re now in the latter camp. Which is depressing as well as dangerous
