i’ve seen some tweets (mostly by minors) about how whenever they try to educate or say something about the situation to their parents, they are ignored, called ignorant/kid, etc. i’ve been in the same situation hundreds of times and i want to say that just please continue +
speaking up or voicing out what you believe in. of course, don’t talk arrogantly. explain & make them understand, calmly. make your points clear & justified. provide them proof if needed. in times like this, educating is more important than just throwing words you can’t explain.
if they still wont accept what ure saying (narrow minds) don’t give up, theyre ur parents, afterall. in an essay written by Renato Constantino he said “Activists must know their reality & work within that reality in order to change it. Parents are very much part of that reality.”
just think of what you’re doing, or atleast what mindset you have, can potentially make a change with the struggle we’re facing. that change involves your parents/family as well.
idk if this made sense since i’m filipino and how close we are to our family is such a big fucking deal so i’m just speaking from experience. (also, i’m an activist too)
