I have long been begging for a grand bargain between right and left to weaken public unions. It would be great, but don’t hold your breath. https://twitter.com/andy_dyer_nova/status/1267142708126195712
“We know the bad cops but can’t get them fired.”

“We know the bad teachers but can’t get them fired.”

Don’t look now, but you’re both starting to figure it out together.
Getting rid of QI seems a more manageable step that would help. But man would I dance in the streets if both parties got together and sidelined government unions. Safer streets, safer schools. Alas, feels like a pipe dream.
One reason I argue for ending qualified immunity is that when this stuff happens, police chiefs say ‘well nothing in our training tells the cop to choke him out with his knee.’ Okay, but are they trained *not* to do that? There’s a difference, and this feels like deflection.
So it leaves the impression that police forces/academies are throwing their hands up. Fine, then the people’s democratically elected representatives can do something.
