In extraordinary times like these, it's natural to look for extraordinary actions to take to make things better. But, unfortunately, these extraordinary times are the result of a lot of very ordinary behavior. Look at your day-to-day actions for ways to make a lasting difference.
Here's an obvious one: vote! Politicians and public servants work for us, so make sure we are hiring the best folks for the job, and also make sure that they are oriented towards increased justice in the world and decreased inequality.
Harder: interrogate the ways your daily life contributes to inequality. How diverse is your neighborhood? How segregated is the school your child attends? Are the owners of your favorite businesses primarily one demographic? Does your social circle primarily look like yourself?
More of that, online: Whose voices do you hear? Are the social media accounts you follow all the same type of person saying the same thing? What stories do you amplify, and which do you ignore? When you see abuse, do you take measures to call it out and/or report it?
Work matters, too: When you look at your co-workers, do you see a group that is representative of your ideal society? What about in leadership? In cases where what you see doesn't match what you want to see, what are you doing to move the company in a better direction?
Bonus: donate to charity – your time, talent and treasure are all valuable! Now is a great time to support causes that move the world forward, but you can give *anytime*. Put in the effort now to find organizations who are doing good work, and donate to them on a recurring basis.
