What they don't teach you about the Father of Taxonomy, Carolus Linnaeus in Evolutionary Biology class, is in his first volume of Systema naturae, which describes what we know now as binomial nomenclature, he also described varieties of human species.
Africans, or Homo sapiens afer, were "ruled by caprice" and described as "lazy, crafty, lustful, careless"

Native Americans, or Homo sapiens americanus, were "ruled by superstition" and described as "stubborn, ill-tempered, free"
Asians, or Homo sapiens asiaticus, were "rule by ritual" and described as " severe, greedy, haughty"

Caucasians, or Homo sapiens europaeus, were "ruled by intelligence" and described as "gentle, acute, inventive"
Linnaeus has been marveled as the creator of the system used to describe life, but rarely ever noted as a pioneer in defining the concept of race. This classification he started empowered and validated oppressors to conquer "lower races"
And I hope as we train the next generations of scientists that we teach the whole story of the advancements that we have in science instead of painting a pretty picture of The Fathers of our fields.
