Big takeaways from last night:

It’s impossible to discern everyone’s motives for being out there. When there were clashes around the Capitol in daylight, many were there for George Floyd and police’s treatment of people of color. Most people were peaceful. Some were not.
Calls for peace occurred while police began moving their line but that looked hard to accomplish when being forced by a line of riot police with weapons. I witnessed @DenverPolice using restraint and I witnessed police escalating the situation.
Late night was all about destruction. Some people told me they thought it accomplished something bigger. Many wouldn’t talk and carried weapons including chemicals, with no discernible message.
Most late-night participants weren’t people of color and I saw many POC yell at them for destroying things. But it’s impossible to neatly classify every single person’s motives. Obviously everyone is multidimensional with varied life experiences, motives. Can’t talk to 1k people.
