by the way if you& #39;re white + living in the US especially and you have the opportunity to distance yourself/ignore whats going on despite the crimes your country have been and are currently committing against innocent black people, that& #39;s white privilege
YES this violence is upsetting and yes it is hard to go on social media and see this, it may be tempting for us to just unfollow/mute/etc accounts and posts relating to BLM, but in the end because we are white it is easy for us to say it isnt our problem and distance ourselves
we are 100% unfairly privileged to have that option and we should be obligated to act against that and expose ourselves to the stuff that black people have had to live with their entire lives. our discomfort should not be an incentive to hide but to ACT
even if you can& #39;t offer your support during protests. even if you dont have money to donate. there is something everybody can be doing to help and selfishly blocking out the world to keep it from hurting your feelings makes you part of the problem too
@ my black followers. if there& #39;s ever something in this thread or anything i say/do/support in general that is racist or otherwise wrong in any way please come to me about it so i can apologize+change my behaviour.
im not one to be & #39;serious& #39; very often nor am i good with words but i just feel like i need to say something in regards to whats going on and where i stand
btw in the first tweet i single out the US only because of recent events. racism is an issue in literally every country and for non-US citizens like myself , we can& #39;t use that as an excuse to avoid whats going on either.
not only can we still aid those living in the US, we should start educating ourselves on the issues within our own countries + finding out what we can do to help.
