My parents are trying very hard not to show it but they're on edge. Worried that what happened to Koreatown in '92 will happen again. My dad's worried about the supermarkets he's helped build, the small-biz owners he's friends with who wouldn't be able to recover. But most of
worried about the safety of his family and being able to provide for them. He gets so worried sick about providing for us that he gets ulcer attacks, one time so bad that my mom and I thought he was going to die on us.
I am 100% in support of the protests. Fuck the police.
But damn if I'm not scared for Koreatown. The police did nothing to help in '92. We know they still wouldn't, if anything they'd make things worse.
There's no real point to this thread other than that I'm scared.
The protests aren't the problem. It's opportunists looting and vandalizing to let off some weird punk anti-establishment wet dream that are the problem.
And I also understand that looting can come from a genuine place of hurt and need when the establishment has failed to listen to peaceful protests. I'm just praying, and I'm not a religious person at all, that LA as a whole (and this country) can...idek
