If I hear one more person talk about how An Garda Síochána are great and shining examples of good police I& #39;m going to fucking lose it. We all know the infamous stories but here& #39;s some of my personal stories
In 2016 I was assaulted unprovoked by a teenager in public. A hooked punch to the jaw while I was in the middle of rolling a cigarette. A friend and witness called the local station directly and they did fuck all. Didn& #39;t even want me to come in and make a statement
Also in 2016 I was sexually assaulted near a bus stop. Made a statement and get this. Called me in and showed me a photo of someone on the officer& #39;s phones asking if this was the guy. Offhandedly saying they& #39;re not supposed to show me this. Said I couldn& #39;t know for sure.
Never heard from them again. 100% certain my case was abandoned without even having the good graces to fucking tell me.
In 2018 I was assaulted by minors in public. Went directly to the Garda station to make a statement. Half way through I was told they can& #39;t do anything. Told me they& #39;ll call me within the week to actually record my statement. I& #39;m still waiting on that call.
In 2020 someone I know was assaulted while on a break during an event. While they are being treated for a headwound, gardai had a chat to the guy, watched CCTV footage of the assault, SHOOK THE GUYS HAND and let him walk away.
