Please stop framing this as a political or partisan issue. Police misconduct & the militarization of local police is a bi-partisan & very-much all-American disgrace. It’s generational & widespread. We must not be warriors cuz we are not at war with our neighbors.

Change it all

I’m not talking abt gun control or criminal justice reform (both needed & beyond my lane). I’m talking about fostering a local police culture of warriors, of us vs them, of treating everyone as a threat. I’m talking abt my neighbors. Who aren’t a metaphor. They’re my neighbors

For so long we’ve tolerated and funded and encouraged a war on crime that makes cops the warriors and our neighbors the enemy. I reject that with every single ounce of me. We must not work against criminals. We must work for our neighbors. That’s not semantics. It’s the answer.
