1) Some convos i’ve had with my family and friends just because I’m a Black man.
What time to leave a nice neighborhood because of the police potentially pulling you over and accusing you of being a criminal

2) Seeing the constant hypocrisy played out by media and police whenever incidents occur with white and Black people. A white man can shoot 9 people in a church and be simply arrested. Hmmm…go figure
3) Being absolutely exhausted at the amount of hashtags piling up because of the amount of unarmed Black lives that have been taken from us so soon.
Wearing a hoodie and wondering if I should put my hood up as I walk down the street because I can be viewed as a threat.

4) Making sure you are ready to go live on Facebook/IG in case you are pulled over by the police “just in case”
Having your heart skip a few beats when you see a police siren behind you because you might die in the next few minutes

5) A check list of things to do when the police do happen to stop you (because it’s absolutely going to happen)
Responding to comments about the “right” way to protest and seeing the goal posts move whenever a new method occurs…and ultimately falls on racism’s deaf ears.

6) Seeing how people react when an animal is in danger compared to a Black man’s life.
What to name my future child out of fear so they aren’t at a disadvantage for a job/school application
How I should wear my hair because of how I might be perceived on an interview

7) Wondering WHEN (not if but when) my nephews are going to be seen as threats when they get older instead of the cute kids that they are now
8) Being able to count on 1 hand (if i’m lucky) how many people look like me in a class, department or work meeting and wondering if that will EVER change
Knowing that other Black people are having similar conversations and wondering when it all ends

9) Asking Black friends how quiet their white friends/co-workers/counterparts have been during this entire week and getting the same answer: VERY (shout out to those who have been vocal and reached out. I see and appreciate you)
10) All of this is because i& #39;m Black. I LOVE being Black. I’m unapologetically Black. But being Black is damn hard. Those who refuse to accept & understand that can miss me completely. Either stand with me & with people that look like me or keep it moving. Enough is enough. (End)
