I’m reading posts from people that I simply can’t believe. Posts that claim these protests shouldn’t be the first thing people jump to as they ignore protesting by taking a knee or speaking up during a large public awards acceptable speech.

People are flatly dismissing that the civil rights movement never ceased. Posts that claim “violence never works” but forget that the country they are so proud of was founded on violence by taking from others then fighting those who we separated from.

As a foster parent and as a social service worker, my eyes have been opened to much of the crap happening in this country and my own backyard. And I know it is only a glimpse into what many experience on the regular.

As a woman, I’m careful and watch where I go, and I simply can’t imagine what it must feel like to be a black person in the world today.

Things need to change. Trump needs to go. Now. November is not soon enough. That man is out for his own good and stoking the flames of racism. The few tiny things of good he has done in absolutely no way outweigh the crap he has done.

Any elected official who supports him needs to be voted out. I hate voting ”party line”, but come November, my ballot will be mostly blue.

I speak up because I have a voice. And maybe someone is feeling uncomfortable and doesn’t know what to say. I feel you. I don’t know what to say either. I’ll start with this thread. I’ll continue by saying Black Lives Matter. And I’m figuring out where to go from here.
