The unrest beneath the protests has been brewing for centuries. It reflects deep structural inequality based on race.

I appreciate the solidarity being shown right now.
Please go further by making long term investments in educating yourself about racial inequality and directly mentoring and helping to educate and hire those affected by it.

The protests will fade, but progress will still be needed. Change will require a long term commitment.
Some may counter that they don't know any Black people to mentor or help. I have a suggestion for that. Twitter is a platform that is disproportionately used by People of Color.

Find them in your field. Follow them. Listen silently for a few weeks. Don't engage. Not yet.
After silently reading their tweets for a few weeks, you'll see a lot of similarities between your life and their life.

Opportunities to help will become obvious.

They need the same help you needed. Give them the help you received (or wish you had received).
Engage respectfully. You'll find great talents and beautiful souls. Eventually start to offer advice. Link them to people in your community with education and job resources. Offer to hop on a Zoom call when you see something they need that you can provide through mentoring.
Yes, you will find some who are suspicious of you. Is that really surprising? These are suspicious times.

You'll eventually find those whose needs match what you can provide. Invest in those matches.
How long do you have to do this? Let's timebox it to the rest of 2020. This year could use some concerted efforts to do good.

We need to move past wondering when things will change. Be the change.
