1/n A good samaritan hd recently sent me a book by GENE SHARP. Book’s name— Frm dictatorship to democracy. This political scientist hd given many methods of turning a dictatorship into a democracy. Bt today d methods r misused to DESTROY democracies. Will explain in this thread. https://twitter.com/hemirdesai/status/1267049500864139264
2/n Every dictator hs a weakness, Gene sharp wanted these weaknesses to b exploited to bring down the dictator. The same is applicable on a democracy too. First a democratically elected leader is called a DICTATOR n then a narrative is built around it.
3/n Later a random incident becomes the reason for VIOLENCE to erupt on streets. A suicide, a death or a r*pe case, it can b anything. Slogans that emerge —“X is a dictator” n “Democracy is in danger”. The inimical elements wait for an opportunity to pounce on.
4/n The original reason of death cld be ANYTHING, bt govt gets the blame.Whilst public properties r damaged, lives of protestors n of policemen r put at risk, the real target of such violence is the ECONOMY. A democratic govt sans support of ppl —is powerless.
5/n India too faced such “protests” recently. JNU “protests” came first and then the Shaheen bagh protests followed. Almost always the protestors believe they r fighting for a CAUSE. What they dont comprehend is— they r being used by an ext power to DESTROY their own country.
6/n There’s NO solution to such protests coz protestors dnt give up when persuaded peacefully, and when coercive methods r used, the democratically elected leader’s image of being a dictator is reinforced. Perils of being a democracy!!!
7/7 Getting bck to original topic—America. Here’s a tiny spark which can set the great forest on fire. Being an ALERT citizen is the only way one can prevent our emotions frm being manipulated n turning snowballs into avalanches that hv the power to weaken a democracy.
Linking my article on the same.
Bt honestly when I wrote the article I hd no clue abt Gene Sharp theory. Bt I knew the concept of non-contact warfare. https://resonantnews.com/2020/02/27/protests-were-to-unfold-in-4-stages-shaheen-bagh-protests-are-an-ideal-example-of-non-contact-warfare/

Forgot to add: Every democracy hs few faultlines. In US it’s abt races n in India its abt diff religions. In most of the cases U wont be able to differentiate a genuine protest frm a manufactured one. Confirmation bias will lead one to believe what they want to believe.
Updating: An example of how they paint democratically elected leaders as dictators>>> https://twitter.com/roshovani/status/1267414571247001600?s=21 https://twitter.com/roshovani/status/1267414571247001600
