Since non people of color are calling us thugs for protesting and looting. I believe this is a perfect time to share the story of Black Wall Street. Black history that has been hidden for decades. With stories and facts still being unraveled today.

Tulsa, Oklahoma’s Greenwood District also known as “Black Wall Street” was one of the most prosperous African-American communities in the US

99 years ago today, Dick Rowland(Black male 19 y/o) and Sarah Page (white female 17 y/o) were in an elevator together. They both ran out screaming. The next day Dick Rowland was arrested and a headline in the newspaper reported that Dick Rowland attempted to rape Sarah page.

The trial was the next day. A group of black men showed up to the court house to protect Dick Rowland. But so did a mob of white men. A scuffle broke out between the two groups. With the black men being out numbered the retreated and went back to the greenwood district

Of course the white mob followed them black. On the way the white mob burned down hundreds of black owned homes. When they reached the town the massacre began.

They began looting, booming, and burning down the entirety of the town. Hotels, theaters, cafes, banks homes were destroy because of an accusation.

They mudered hundreds of black people. Throwing their bodies into lakes and ditches, and also burning them.

Over 300 black people were killed during this massacre. Over 800 injured, more than 9000 black people were left homeless.

These THUGS destroyed the town for two days because of an accusation. Sarah Page did not even want to press charges on Dick Rowland.

This was all during a time in Oklahoma when the KKK was at its peak. Lynching, burning, killing black people like we were animals.

Worst of all during the massacre of Black Wall Street, police officers provided assistance to the white mobs during the riots and killings.

No white people were arrested for the massacre of Black Wall Street. Although many black people were arrested and being held in detention camps.
