Predominantly black Milwaukee neighborhoods have some of the worst incarceration rates in the country. The state is incredibly overdue for criminal justice reforms happening elsewhere. Trolling Black History Month has become an annual GOP Assembly event. But hard to top the time when the all-white WI GOP removed Colin Kaepernick for those to be honored, the guy who peacefully protested about police brutality, because it would be "too divisive" per Vos 5/
While Vos held power it became harder for black voters in WI to vote. Early voting ton Sundays that black churches used for "souls to polls" mobilization was eliminated and Voter ID hit the black community harder. 6/
Could go on, and others should add their thoughts. But we don't solve anything by ignoring systemic racism that is motivating protests. WI leaders complaining that enough people aren't being arrested speak to their ongoing failures in addressing these issues. 7/
