So, yesterday I went out for takeout b/c I was lazy & didn't want to cook. On my way, a KY State Trooper appeared behind me.
I didn't panic & wasn't startled but I wanted to see what this trooper would do.
So, I set my cruise control to 57 mph & waited to see what was going /1
to happen. He stayed about three car lengths behind me for about 3.5 miles, occasionally accelerating to my rear bumper as if he were looking to provoke a response.
I kept my 57 mph pace & him in my rear view when he eventually flip on his blues & pulled me over. /2
The reason? He said "my tags were expired." (which they weren't, as I had the registration AND the receipt proving everything was up to date). He let me go without so much as a warning.
Here's the thing. I'm one of a handful of people of color that live in West Liberty, KY /3
& I work for the local school system AND everyone knows that I'm a retired veteran, as this community isn't that big.
And yet I was pulled over literally for nothing.
I can understand that LEOs are under a lot of stress, however, doing things such as this WILL NOT /4
make me sympathetic to your issues. @kystatepolice, police up your people. Participating in this level of childishness and unprofessional behavior, especially in this time where everyone is on edge, is unproductive & detriment to the public trust. Do. Better.
