I know that I’ve been posting a lot of RTs recently regarding #GeorgeFloyd and #BellyMujinga but I think this also deserves my own voice, no matter how small. This is gonna be a thread I feel, so please bear with me while I gather my thoughts and feelings.
When I saw footage of a black man being choked to death by men who took an oath to protect and serve people like him, it was heart-breaking. Some people think that racism is only just slurs and blackface. But it’s deeper than that. It’s embedded in the system.
When a white woman tells a black man “I’m gonna call the police and say that there’s an AFRICAN AMERICAN man threatening my life” she is aware of racism within an authorative institution and is using it as a weapon. She is expecting the same police brutality that killed George.
And what hurts us the most is that we’ve been here before, way too many times. Killed for going jogging, playing with toys, doing our jobs, being in our own home! Whilst white male mass murderers/terrorists are calmly arrested like common theives!
THAT’S why people take a knee, THAT’S why people protest. It’s not enough to not be a racist, you need to be anti-racist. If any of the pics/video or this thread made you feel uncomfortable then GOOD! Nothing about this is supposed to give a warm fuzzy feeling.
And another thing regarding #BellyMujinga . What angers me the most is that NO FURTHER ACTION is going to be taken? Even if it was proven that she didn’t get COVID 19 from her attacker (which I don’t believe for a second btw), last time I checked spitting on someone is an assault
When #BlackLivesMatter , and I mean TRULY matter, THEN All lives matter.
