On top of it all, black journalists have been the ones within media warning desperately for years this was an urgent crisis. Reply from some in our field has been to question our journalism ethics and “objectivity” -- to call us, essentially, hysterical liars. We warned you all

I’ve had many supportive colleagues. And also, on the literal day my team won a Pulitzer for a project on police violence that I pitched & championed, Washingtonian reported that my own colleagues were *reaching out to reporters* to say I didn’t know how to do journalism
That screenshot hung at the computer monitor above my desk until the day I packed up my notebooks and left the newsroom
One of those “older Post journalists” wrote a front page article just yesterday waxing poetic about the need for “healers” in this moment. I’ll end this thread here
