aku dari kmrn mau ngomongin yoongi tp masih stres so now that the press release is out 👍

locking my acc tho bc i don’t want anyone taking my words out of context. but let’s discuss bc ik i disagree with about 80% of the tlist wkwkwk

if u ss this i’ll come for u!
anw, the sample.

regardless of the intention behind it, using it in the first place is ...not a good look. it’s horrible. people have come up with reasonings why he might have done it, and no reason can be good enough.
#1 the reason as stated by bh: their inspection wasn’t thorough, they didn’t recognise its historical and cultural significance, tldr they were ignorant.

yes, it’s bad. they need to do better, yoongi, el capitxn, ghstloop, the company itself. they should reflect on this.
was an apology needed? yes lmao. when you’re aware you’re ignorant and have hurt people by your words/actions, apology IS needed. it’s not addressed to antis, it’s addressed to people who are //actually// hurt by it. you and i both know they don’t give a single fuck about antis.
im just gonna list other reasons i’ve seen people coming up with and while they don’t matter anymore in this context, something like this might happen again in the future and just... don’t do this. don’t make these excuses.
#2 jim jones was anti-SK: he really was not. he was pro-NK, but the main takeaway here is that whatever view he had of korea, it was nowhere near the magnitude of what he’s known for: the jonestown massacre, a mass murder of people consisting mainly of black people.
if you had told me that hitler hated cats, if i referred to hitler, without context, would you assume that was bc of his antisemitism or just bc, i like cats, of course i hate people who hate cats??

...the example sounded better in my head but the point here: it’s a Reach.
#3 this thing has been done for Decades by other rappers, if you ‘cancel’ yoongi you must cancel all those other rappers too.

see, we have no emotional attachment to those artists. it doesn’t make it right, but if they pull something like this, we wouldn’t feel as hurt by it.
also, those artists mentioned? the ones who directly sampled him, or referred to him in a song, are mostly black. yoongi, as much as we love him, is nbpoc. he doesn’t have the shared history, he doesn’t have the rights to reclaim it.
#4 listen to it With Context. i have. and i’ll explain in a bit, bc it’s hard to get with even a second glance.

however, this: even if he meant to do it, even if he meant it as an irony, it’s still tasteless to put in a song.
hell, we’re talking about MASS MURDER. there are things that are okay to put in a song, and there are things that are? flat out? not okay?? it’s tasteless, it crosses the line. regardless of your intention, with all the artistic purposes, it’s STILL offensive.
and now, the context- hhhh h it’s hard. sumpah.

right, so first glance it’s a flex track of his achievements, second glance a diss track of those who say he can’t achieve those achievements.

and the trivia: the title. 어떻게 생각해 [what do you think?]
the phrase 어떻게 생각해, if my research is correct, please cmiiw (!!!), is used a lot by knetizens when they talk about rumours

ex. ‘idol x is caught in a dating scandal, what do you think?’ ‘idol y is said to be cheating to get to the top of the chart, what do you think?’
the repeated usage of the phrases in the song is almost like he read it off of 18 open tabs of gossip sites and forums lol. and this is what they mean by ‘hivemind’ interpretation—that people find something interesting, believe it, and spread it with no care of its credibility
this is so meta there’s NO way you can get to this interpretation without doing a little digging. and when someone just put it out as a reasoning, people who have 0 idea what they’re talking about is gonna find it a bit of a reach.
but also, just. fr. you don’t think that interpretation applies to you? when you see someone blindly defending him even with a list of reasonings, if you just support it without researching if it makes sense, doesn’t that make you a part of the hivemind, as well?
please don’t do him a disservice like this in the future.

if you find any of them doing something questionable, your first instinct should be factchecking, not defending.

admitting that they do something wrong doesn’t cancel out any of the good work they have done.
i lost my train of thought so... thats it? maybe? if something else comes to mind i’ll add it to the thread.
one thing, tho: this is NOT a free pass for non-armys to push your anti agenda. i’ve seen so many armys supporting the BLM movement, while kpoppies jumped on this matter in a flash just to shit on yoongi. yall disgust me
i unlocked my acc for discussion if u wanna!
