Over the years a lot Black celebs have shown up for #BlackLivesMatter . It’s often been white or non Black celebs who’ve had a problem or challenge in speaking up. Now that more white celebs are on board I need y’all to let go of the idea that police just need more training -

Training, body cameras, community policing ain’t it. When you decide to believe that police just need more help to do their job you fail to understand the inherit role of law enforcement. They are a well funded army that occupies Black and Brown communities.

Their actual job is to: occupy, harass, abuse, torture and kill Black communities. This is not hyperbole. This is facts. Do you need more proof than the last 7 years? Do Black people need to keep dying in order for white folks to trust when we say

It’s time - this moment is our time for folks who have huge platforms - not just Black folks to show up and confront the violent and brutal reality of law enforcement across the United States of America. I promise the moment you listen to Black organizers you will be freed.
