@AndyBurnhamGM made a statement indicating that the @gmpolice were "right to apprehend the individual" while separating the father from his visibly distraught son. Meanwhile in April, while under lockdown the @gmpolice again arrested another Black man providing...
And yet while Minneapolis, Detroit, LA & other cities are rising up in solidarity against the brutal police killing of #GeorgeFloyd, we must NEVER FORGET the UK is still killing, brutalising, criminalising, detaining & deporting Black & PoCs. As @INQUEST_ORG reports, since...
Just last night another Black man in South London was brutalised by the @metpoliceuk.

You can hear him scream, "I can't breathe" while 5 officers lay on top of his body. https://www.facebook.com/100011023545242/videos/1135995906777850/UzpfSTcyMDk5NTg0MjoxMDE1Njk0NzM1NTk3NTg0Mw/?notif_id=1590914868644128&notif_t=feedback_reaction_generic
The police violence that we see on our streets is the state violence that we are experiencing with the many xeno-racist laws created by both @Conservatives & @UKLabour that continue to criminalise & oppress Black & PoC lives through borders & prisons.
And the legacy of the violence that we are witnessing throughout the UK & in the US is down to British imperialism & collusion with the Trans-Atlantic slave trade. British universities would not exist without the money that was made through plantations & colonial plundering.
Cities like Birmingham, Bristol, Glasgow, London, Liverpool, & Manchester would not have existed had it not been for the profiting as a result of the slave trade & colonialism. British banking, businesses, & its aristocracy have all profited from this violence.
It is disappointing when British people talk about the death of #GeorgeFloyd as something distant & distinctly American in tone, without realising that this violence that we are witnessing Stateside has it's roots in this country's legacy of imperialism, colonialism & genocide.
