Racism in the UK isn’t even covert, they just lie so profoundly that you start to question your own judgements

99% of the dialogue on race in the UK is exhausted by debating whether it’s okay to label a racist a racist. Addressing the racism comes after the fact or not at all.
We don’t talk enough about how exhausting it is to first have to prove racism (in this here UK) before anything’s done about it.

Especially because you’re appealing to a normative standard of respect that clearly doesn’t exist in a lot of people in this country.
You’ve got pricks who have and will never experience racism/marginalisation speak authoritatively on these topics w/ the same wass:

“I don’t see how it’s racist”
“If you said [the reverse] to me, I wouldn’t be offended”
“_____ doesn’t mind”
The last one: “____ doesn’t mind” is an especially grim tactic ngl.

Because they’re literally using the fact that most BAME are vastly outnumbered (and therefore less vocal) in the professional/social environments that they navigate to their advantage.
