THREAD: Easy but necessary digital security changes you should be making
AVOID relying too heavily on any services hosted/run by a company based in the US. Y'all are too smart for that!

AVOID using your real name, address, number, and other such details wherever possible
AVOID using Google Chrome! Firefox is free and open-source, and isn't surveillance technology. You have no excuse!

AVOID Gmail and Outlook. Use https://protonmail.com  for secure, end-to-end encrypted email hosted outside of the US.
START using end-to-end encrypted communications software! This includes Signal and RiotIM

AVOID Google Drive, OneDrive or iCloud as much as you can! If you can't afford MS Office to write documents locally, try LibreOffice which is free and open-source: https://www.libreoffice.org/
PREFER https://mega.nz/  to Google Drive etc. for file-sharing and file-syncing. It's not the best, but it is run by a New Zealand based company and applies end-to-end encryption to your files. Be aware that it has a 50gb free limit.
USE passphrases when making new accounts. Phrases like apple-bottom-jeans-boots-with-the-fur are like a billion times more secure than a password that looks like Ru3N2ds$! but is only 9 characters long. Password LENGTH > password obscurity.
That's all I can think of! Let me know if anything should be added, and reach out if I can help you implement any of these into your daily life. Thanks for paying attention and doing your best to stay safe while we confront the US police state!
Thanks so much for giving this thread attention! I'd like to bring attention to a few others I wrote last night. There's more you can do to protect yourselves! https://twitter.com/rosalogia/status/1267005727610146817?s=19
