So going back or not going back there are a big chunk of children who won't be back until September and tbh beyond ..so the next question is what to do with their learning? It's a long time from March ...
Just sending out PowerPoints and worksheets won't hold them and keep them connected ..but full on line teaching isn't the answer either as folk don't have the tech, children or staff ...so what to do ..?
Voiced over pp can help..they hear you and you can highlight misconceptions...short zooms(other formats are available) for assembly or once a week gathers to chat ..to stay a community..read stories or classbook and record (check copyright)
Quizzes or discussion boards can help retrieval and engagement...use of breakout rooms to aid discussion as that's what is missing can help too..if you have a ta they can be on one ..
But feedback too needs consideration I've seen in my own children, the difference a full comment can make compared to a generic good or well done..so how to make feedback useful, meaningful and keep engagement high without drowning in it ..
So targeted marking and feedback for specific areas or year groups narrow ...then the debate to cover new or just revise ..again will need addressing come the autumn...
All tough questions, no one right answer but lots of good opportunities to chew fat over teaching, pedagogy and school community ...rather than risk assessments and the immediate emergency measures ...
