A short thread...
Story time!!!🤐 It’s quite obvious that Dental Compliance is something that most dental patients don’t pay too much attention to
I have been a culprit myself. 🙈 Let me indulge you with my personal experience(Don’t laugh😏)...
I had my first wisdom tooth taken out about 8 years ago by my Dentist...
🤫After the procedure, I refused to take the prescribed oral medications before the numbness fully wore off and I adamantly ignored the post-extraction instructions.
🥴 Chale, I was in so much pain that night and I also developed a complication on the 3rd day which dentists refer to as “Dry Socket.”
This was all because I didn’t follow instructions the Dentist gave me. 😪 It ended in PREMIUM TEARS!...
I knew that it wasn’t my family witches(efiefuor)🧙‍♂️ who were “doing me” but I was rather the one “doing myself” I know there are other patients reading this who have done worse😂
🦷Patient compliance is really important when it comes to a successful dental treatment. Now the question arises, what is compliance?
Patient compliance is the extent to which a person’s behaviour coincides with medical/oral health related advice. 😷 It reflects a patient’s willingness to comply with preventive/therapeutic strategies as set forth by his or her health care provider
👨🏾‍⚕️Many of you visit your dentist and totally forget all the instructions immediately you leave the premises...
Examples include specific instructions given after a tooth extraction 🦷, instructions given for the care of dentures, fillings, braces, veneers, implants & bridges, appointment dates & time, reviews after a treatment has been completed...
... follow-up visits for root canal treatments, your dentist’s advice on getting a Crown after a particular root canal treatment, oral hygiene instructions, prescribed medications dosage, etc. ⏰ The list goes on & on but time will not permit me to continue...
❤️Let’s make it a habit to follow what our oral care experts tell us when we visit the dental clinic. 😭 It helps to avoid unnecessary costs💰, time wastage and preventable complications...
... 😢I have been a dental patient before and I had to learn this the hard way. It’s not GIBBERISH after all! 😅 #dentist #Ghana #FunFactsWithDrAwua
