Yesterday I read a lot on the issue of native language usage on our #TiniTwitter. I do believe major factors were missed. My thoughts here in a #TiniSundayThread Your thoughts in comments welcome. 🤗
1/5. By admitting that the language I would like to use frequently in our conversations, is not my best, is no a pride game - but a request for tolerance. #TiniSundayThread
2/5. Tolerance in that I might mess up or do a lot of mixing languages. So the listener is advised ahead of the discussion not to take offense. Keep me comfortable in my flaws. Or for the sake of understanding each other, we use another language #TiniSundayThread
3/5. Definitely shows that "I am not proud of this admission"
Had I been proud, I would have demanded you speak in the language I am comfortable with. Can I do something about it? Yes, That's why I am trying to speak the language. #TiniSundayThread
4/5. Is it My Fault?? Language is influenced by your environment when growing up. We all never chose where we grew up and how we grew up. Our parents did. It would be unfortunate to judge a kid on choices made on his or her behalf. #TiniSundayThread
5/5. Lastly, we can always choose the people we relate to through the choices we make, but those we choose not to relate to, for whatever reason, are not necessarily faulty or incomplete. We just don't feel as comfortable with them compared to others.
Happy Sunday
