....You know of all the things I expected from this bullshit year, the return of Anonymous was not on that list.
Though it is important to keep in mind that "Anonymous" really isn't an organization so much as it is a public domain persona used by numerous groups and individuals with varying goals and motivations.
One hacker group could take out police radios, while another doxxes protesters, both claiming to be Anonymous, and they'd both be telling the truth.
"Anonymous" has sided with animal rights activists before, threatened to release Iggy Azaela's sex tape, and harassed feminists. They've also done wonderful work like their role in the Occupy movement, attacks against ISIS, and the multiple rape cases they've brought to light.
The persona also has roots in the 4chan community, which is questionable to problematic, though I doubt that they will be relevant in this crisis. I still do advise caution in cheering on those using the persona, as harm will be done by someone using that label sooner, not later.
The point of this thread:

Cheer on individual hackers and actions *not* public personae or organizations. Be cautious of those trying to use said labels to garner sympathy or support.
