1/ If you are more bothered by the way folks are reacting to injustice than the injustice itself, you are choosing to side with the oppressor, period, no arguments. Don’t tell black folks how to mourn for their community or how to react to trauma they’ve experienced from an
2/ entire system that was designed and built to keep them down for GENERATIONS. They will not heal by being told to act calmly. They will not heal by being told to comply with the police. They already tried and we haven’t listened and
3/ the protests are a direct result of our failures to support and protect them. We didn’t mean to be racist but our silence and inaction held power. RACIST BYSTANDERS CAUSED THIS. **WE** CAUSED THIS.
4/ STOP FOCUSING ON YOURSELF AND LISTEN TO THE SCREAMING VOICES OF THE AFFLICTED YOU’VE CHOSEN TO IGNORE BECAUSE IT MADE YOU UNCOMFORTABLE.
5/ Listen and learn and empathize. But hurry up because black folks will continue to be killed by the state until we speak up and act. Resources will be listed in this thread.
6/ Jane Elliott made it perfectly clear: I know you know that black folks are mistreated and I know you don’t want that for yourself or your family or your friends, so why are you okay with it happening to anyone else?
